A veneer is a layer of material placed over a tooth, either to improve the aesthetics of a tooth or to protect the tooth’s surface from damage. Dental veneers help to improve the colour, shape and position of teeth, including chipped ones. They can last for many years. We normally recommend veneers as part of a total mouth restorative process.
A crown is used to entirely cover or ‘cap’ a damaged tooth. Besides strengthening damaged teeth, a crown can be used to improve its appearance, shape or alignment. A crown can also be placed on top of an implant to provide a tooth-like shape and structure for function.
Many of the patients we treat have older crowns that are no longer working well or looking good. Modern crowns and teeth treated with veneers are almost indistinguishable from natural teeth and we often replace patients’ old crowns – giving a far better look to their smiles.
Adding veneers and putting in crowns instead of removing teeth is part of our philosophy of saving teeth wherever possible and it’s something we’re passionate about. At Excel we don’t ‘sell you up’ – we do what’s best for you, your teeth and your budget. Call or mail us today to arrange a free no-obligation consultation with Moiz.
